Jason Stillman



Jason Stillman began playing saxophone at the age of twelve. He was primarily self-taught until post-secondary studies where he received formal training from some of the country’s most esteemed saxophonists including Remi Bolduc, John Johnson and Kelly Jefferson. Other influential teachers include Oscar Peterson, Andre White, Joe Sullivan, and David Liebman.

In 2006 and 2007, Jason was the winner of the Schulich Scholarship from the Schulich School of Music at McGill University. He was also the recipient of the Glenn Carter Graduate Fellowship in Jazz Performance from the University of Toronto from 2013 – 2015.

Jason is currently the leader of The Office Party, featuring Joe Sullivan (trumpet), Martin Garbulinski (bass) and Andre White (drums), as well as the Jason Stillman Quartet, featuring Josh Rager (piano), Paul Rushka (bass) and David Laing (drums). Jason was featured on clarinet in the Segal Centre for the Performing Arts’ 2013 production of Ain’t Misbehavin’ (starring Juno Award winner Kim Richardson) as well as the 2014 world debut of Belles Soeurs the musical. He currently lives with his family in Montreal and is a doctoral student at the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Music.
